The Celtic boss declared he was not afraid of dismissal, claiming, “The team is extremely close to changing our fortunes,” even after edging perilously close to the chopping block with a convincing loss to Rangers.

A Second-Half Collapse Sees Derby Defeat

Celtic had led the visitors at the break but a collapse after the break let Rangers to move level on points with the defending league title holders. The former MLS manager, who was brought in from the MLS, has now overseen six defeats in eight matches.

“The standard we had at stages was really, really, really high. That happened. And I would not speak so positively if it was different. But that’s why, in terms of results, I noted it's a repeating pattern. For that reason I believe a change is coming to getting it right. Currently: small things.”

“I saw many, many good things that we did, as was the case today. The issue now is consistency. My outlook would be different if it was not the case. This is why I am convinced the team can to fix this.”

Opposition Reaction Outlook

The victorious boss was cautious about a title charge even after what appeared to be a statement victory. “We take it game by game, then we can really build up a challenge,” he said. “The confidence in the squad is immense.”
