The families of teens missing after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are facing an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and pleading for clues about their loved ones via social media.

The blaze devastated the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Verified footage show the ceiling igniting as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of 40 people and injured another over a hundred. A spokesperson said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with work still underway to name the other six.
