Star Refutes Anti-Vaccine Position After Narrating Controversial Covid Feature
Liam Neeson has lent his narration to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the safety of vaccines and lauds one-time health official RFK Jr.
The Film's Disputed Origins
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a popular book co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the health crisis for claims that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the seasonal immunization.
Her co-author, a producer, has also written books with controversial radio host a known commentator. He wrote online praising Neeson's involvement in the project.
An Unequivocal Denial
A spokesperson for the actor have released a response pushing back against claims that he supports anti-vaccine beliefs.
"Many understand that unethical practices may occur within the drug industry, but that should never be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the comment states. "Liam has never been, and is not, against vaccines. His considerable work with Unicef highlights his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement continued that the star was not involved in crafting the documentary's editorial content and that questions about its claims ought to go to the creators.
Key Claims Within the Documentary
As presented, the voiceover read by Neeson makes several controversial points:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It declares that "science has become deeply politicized."
- RFK Jr is featured saying, "The major issue with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
- The narration takes aim at Covid lockdowns, saying they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it mentions a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Controversy and Recent Debates
It also references a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the focus of a correction by the broadcaster for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, the political figure directed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its long-held position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is also referenced in the documentary, contrary to a fresh analysis from the WHO reiterating no evidence has been found.
A Past Record of Endorsement
Contrasting the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly voiced strong support for vaccines in his position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's voice saying, "This is not the finish of our story. Rather, it is the start of a new chapter."
