Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase like this with results like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
