Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Awards.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season.
The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of Dominance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She earned almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".
