President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the presidential home.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to support public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Government Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event led the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and halt issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit the family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” the governor told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
