Over 50 lone child asylum seekers who vanished not long after coming the UK and while being looked after by official bodies are yet to be found, based on data acquired.

A significant number of the unaccounted minors arrived in vessels or stowed away in the backs of trucks and are presumed to have been seized by traffickers. A specific county is often the place where they first land.

Statistical Information Shows Disturbing Totals

Disclosed information has registered 345 children going missing from their area, with 56 of those remaining unaccounted for.

From 2021 and 2023, when two hotels for children were run in addition to similar establishments in other areas, 132 children went missing from those two hotels. From this group, 108 were later found but 24 are still missing.

From 2020 and August 2025, 213 children went missing from care facilities for these minors, with 182 recovered and 32 still missing.

Nationality Breakdown of Missing Children

In both cases, Albanian children were the biggest contingent to go missing, representing a full half the total from the hotels, 68, and in excess of one-fourth from the reception centres, 65.

The next most common ethnic groups to have vanished from each location are individuals from Afghanistan then people from Iran.

Advocacy representatives emphasized that when assisting children who have escaped after being exploited whilst unaccounted for, they observe how their psychological and bodily well-being is irreparably affected by the exploitation they suffer during this time.
