Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
