Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in action and insanity with similar excitement, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose projects have represented all of those elements.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by having a fresh location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the nature of society through this complex and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, daring sensibility to the audience.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
