Fresh Details Come to Light Concerning the Location of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
Recent details have emerged about the untimely passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
The Alarm
A source indicates citing a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the residence. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
The source also pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
