Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
