Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world had expressed sympathy for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
